What is the best Chromebook for college?

Chromebooks have become quite popular to college students recently, and there are 20+ kinds to choose from. While you may be scratching your head trying to figure out which one is the best Chromebook, we have created this perfect list for you. While the laptops are in order of best Chromebook overall, the #1 will not be the best for everyone for various reasons. Enough chit-chat, let’s dive right in!

 #7 ASUS Chromebook Flipbuy1._V192207739_

The ASUS Chromebook Flip is premier 2-in-1 Chromebook on the market for college students. It is snappy, and reliable for using Microsoft Office Online, Google Docs, and other online application available for Chromebooks. The new Rockchip 1.8 GHz Processor ensures speed and stability, backed up by a 4GB RAM. While it is only 10.1 inches, it is touch screen for use in tablet mode. Finally, this Chromebook has exceptional battery life so you can take it anywhere and it will stay on for the whole day.

The Samsung Chromebook 2 comes in two variations, 11-inch & 13-inch, but the 13-inch is the only kind that is actually worth looking at. This Chromebook is sure to last you at least 4 years due to its beefed up processor and 4GB RAM (this is higher than industry-grade for Chromebooks), and the laptop will stay charged for most of the day (8.5 hours). However, there is one huge downside to Samsung’s star Chromebook: it costs way too much. At about $400, it doesn’t have much more than the average Chromebook. There are cheaper Chromebooks that can perform far better. Nonetheless, if money isn’t an issue, and you’re looking for the best Chromebook for stability for college, I’d suggest taking a look at the Samsung Chromebook 2.

#5 Dell Chromebook 11buy1._V192207739_

Chromebook 11 Notebook

The Dell Chromebook 11 is one of Dell’s newer offerings for the college student market and arguably their best Chromebook. Dell is hoping for it to serve as a cheap, reliable notebook for those who spend most of their time in the classroom. It won’t blow you away with any of its specs, but it doesn’t lack major functionality either. At $260, it offers 2GB RAM, integrated graphics card, and a decent processor. It is light, and will last up to 10 hours, so it is definitely built to be portable. Customer reviews suggest that it is rugged, something useful for students that move around a lot, so they do not have to worry about having a delicate device to lug around.

#4 HP Chromebook 2buy1._V192207739_

hpchr2

The HP Chromebook 2 is fun, flashy, and has a big screen (for a Chromebook, 14″). If you’re looking for a Chromebook that will last you (most likely) all day long, and can handle multi-tasking well, I’d take a look at this one. The newer models pack the NVIDIA Tegra K1 which will not let you down even you have 10+ web apps open simultaneously, although they are 4.08lbs so they aren’t the lightest Chromebooks ever. It costs less than $300, so it will not break your budget whatsoever and the 7-second boot will have it up and running in no time. The only con we see that might serve a future issue is the 2GB RAM, because in a few years it may start to run slow.

 #3 ASUS Chromebookbuy1._V192207739_

asus

The ASUS Chromebook is the Chromebook leader in battery life currently. It is guaranteed to last you about 10-11 hours on regular use and while other Chromebook may claim to last as long, none are as cheap as the ASUS Chromebook. It comes in 11-inch and 13-inch variations, so screen size will not be an issue. It doesn’t blow us away with any other other specs, but that is fine because the laptop is nearly $200. If you aren’t looking to do much more than browse the web, do some word processing, and watch some Netflix; the ASUS Chromebook is perfect for you.

#2 Acer C720 Chromebookbuy1._V192207739_

c720

The Acer C720 is Acer’s budget Chromebook, that will handle all Chromebook tasks fast & efficiently without breaking your bank. It’s only $200, and doesn’t lack any major functionality. It will last you 8.5 hours, which isn’t incredible, but not bad for the budget. It only weighs 2.76 lbs, which means your books will probably be heavier than this laptop. The reason the C720 is ranked #2 is because it looks sleek, works efficiently, and does everything a Chromebook needs to do without too much extra functionality or costs. It comes very close to being the very best Chromebook market, but certainly the best budget Chromebook. College students who don’t have much money but need a reliable laptop need to check this Chromebook out.

#1 Acer Chromebook 13buy1._V192207739_

acerchr

The Acer Chromebook 13 is the clear winner for the best Chromebook overall. As the leading Chromebook producer, Acer packed the power into this Chromebook that wasn’t present in the C720. Acer put in the powerful NVIDIA Tegra 2.1 GHz processor, NVIDIA Keplar GPU, and a whopping 11 hours of battery life. This matches the budget ASUS Chromebook in battery life, but with ultra-power. In simple terms, this all means that the Chromebook with most likely never lag, crash, or have issues multitasking for your high-maintenance needs when using ChromeOS. The 2GB RAM version is about $250, but for the power-hungry consumer, we suggest the 4GB RAM version that is about $350. From what we can see, there doesn’t seem to be any downside to the Acer Chromebook 13 besides the semi-high price and reportedly odd resolution. The screen resolution is 1920×1080, something that some people would see as odd for a 13.3″ screen; although, college students like you shouldn’t have issues reading small text (you should be used to it!).
